"I've taken dance at a lot of other places. Everywhere I go, the staff doesn't compare. I mean, it's "the best of the best" here. A lot of them are out of New York or have been trained in New York, or have trained with "the greats". A lot of the teachers I've had have studied with lots of different people: Buster Brown, Honey Coles and Tommy Tune--all "the greats". I think it just rubs right off on us."

"What really convinced me about PTW was I saw the first show, and I saw the students who were graduating and heard their stories, and heard them so emotionally speak about the school. When I saw their performances, I felt that it was more than just their abilities. It was also something that they really loved, and that they had been truly nurtured. They really felt that this had been such a positive experience in their lives. I said, "That's what I would like to see in my child". I don't care if she ever gets a professional job, but she loves to sing and dance and act, and if there's a school that would make her feel confident about herself and her self esteem, I was very pleased."

And then he got another commercial after that. Then he got this TV series for Disney."

15-year-old PTW Student

"All of the staff is so insightful, helpful and supportive. It feels like "a family" here at PTW."

-Iris G., South Orange, NJ
16-year-old PTW Student

"We saw an ad in the our local paper, and the ad was interesting enough to pursue it. We came over and had an interview, and that's how it all started. Right away I knew it was an extremely professional organization.

How Brandon evolved into this "Ragtime" [original Toronto cast], and "Christmas Carol" " [on Broadway] and "Broadway Kids" was basically—the school cleared the path for him through the acting, through the dancing, through the singing, and I think instilled confidence in his own self to realize that he wanted to take this to the next level.

The audition process would not happen without PTW. The preparation, the attitude, the confidence that you convey to other people, not just the talent. PTW brought out his talent, smoothed the rough edges, and matured his talent throughout the years.

It's a school for dance and singing, but really deep down inside it also shapes a child for their future in life and it goes beyond. As far as I'm concerned as a parent, it goes a lot deeper than most people realize. When you're going to a class for dancing and singing, you're amongst your peers and there's a responsibility to come to school and attend the classes on time, and bring your shoes, and bring your tape recorder, and that's part of life where you're turning into a responsible human being with certain responsibilities. And you have a confidence factor that is built in within the format of the school which you maybe don't as a child understand, but as a parent you see it. After six years there is no question that Brandon would not be where he is in life, not just in "Ragtime" or "Christmas Carol", but as a young man in life, without PTW."

-Ken U., West Orange, NJ
PTW Parent

"I really love PTW. I honestly can’t imagine what I would do if I didn’t have PTW."

-Nicole H., Randolph, NJ
11-year-old PTW Student

"When Stephanie first started coming here, she needed a tape recorder, and she would tape the classes, and I would sometimes ask her "Could I listen to your classes?" That's what really sold me on PTW--just listening to her teacher, how she spoke to each individual student. The way she respected each student, and she wanted them to know the meaning of every word they were singing, and she just took everything apart for them. It was masterful to hear the way she taught."

-Sharon J., S. Orange, NJ

I've been very pleased for the last four years. PTW has provided the right teachers for the private lessons as well as for the classes. When I saw her in the show this past year, she burst out onto the stage and was singing and surprised us with some solo pieces: I realized that it was really coming together for her. She's smiling, she's happy, she's enjoying this, and that's what a parent wants in a school and for somebody to care about their child.

-Jenny O., Clark, NJ

Coming up next year, I'll be auditioning for colleges, and this summer I auditioned for a number of summer programs. I think that it gives you the security that you know you are going to walk in there proud to be who you are, and you're just going to present yourself as who you are. I think that's a great thing about this school. It offers training, but at the same time, it's a lot of fun. It's great to have friends that have the same love that you do."

"Austin wanted to sing and dance in addition to just act. He had been considered for the national tour of "Peter Pan", and they suggested very strongly that we enroll him. His manager knew Howard and was very pleased with what she had seen come out of the program and knows that the children all enjoy it very very much.

There was firm but kind discipline, you know, nurturing discipline. But with that age children of course you need that. The life of a child actor is at times a little bit lonely. PTW is nice because the children get to cooperate as an ensemble. And the teacher that they had was very warm and nurturing with the children. I really liked that."
