"The
teachers have all come here with a very varied background, all
with a lot of different things to give. They are all very professional.
They expect the kids to rise to the expectations of the professional
level. Even if they are not expecting to go on in theatre, it's
just the way classes are run. The teachers are excellent with
the students. They know how to give criticism well, constructively,
and produce a successful product at the end of the session.
Lisa
and Tracy did the full program, acting singing, dancing, song
interp. and voice. Tracy, my youngest daughter who is now going
to be fifteen started when she was six or seven. Lisa started
when she was eight, and then finished when she was eighteen.
She is going to be attending NYU this fall. I think part of
what they really liked about Lisa, is Lisa knew how to be part
of an ensemble. This is a major thing she learned. At PTW, she
was encouraged to to be part of an ensemble, so she knows how
to make sure that the group works. Actually, that was her essay
for college--how important ensemble work is, and how you have
to help each other, otherwise the show doesn't work.
The
basis of what they've learned is a way of life, a way to organize
their life. They had to be prepared to come here, so they were
taught discipline and organization, first of all. I think it
has taught my kids skills that they will take with them throughout
their life, no matter what they decide to do, like organization,
respect, ensemble work and preparedness."
